The founders of WayCraft have worked in the biomedical industry for the past ten years and have developed a technology platform, WayFarer, that has the ability to meet the demands of this market now and for the foreseeable future.

WayFarer was conceived of by WayCraft CSO, Dr. Frank Russo, while conducting numerous laboratory experiments himself.  An early convert to computational biology, Dr. Russo saw the potential for leveraging information technologies in the scientific process early on and has spent years on perfecting the WayCraft solution.

Steven Connolly, Chief Executive Officer
With over 20 years in developing technology startups, Mr. Connolly has had the opportunity to lead many talented teams through the process of creating and commercializing new ideas and technologies.  Until forming WayCraft, Mr. Connolly worked as an independent consultant providing technology transfer and commercialization services to academic institutions and bioscience companies.  Mr. Connolly consulted to the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in the development of several bioinformatics projects during this time.  Previous to this Mr. Connolly was the Director of Product Management at the Dante Group, an early stage enterprise software startup formed to commercialize business process monitoring technology which was sold to webMethods.  He has held management positions at Vaultus, Analytical Applications, and Applied Technologies.  Mr. Connolly received an M.B.A. from Regis University, his M.S. in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Washington and his B.A. in Physics from the University of Colorado.

Frank Russo, Chief Science Officer
A true cross-over biologist/computer scientist with extensive lab experience as well as 25 years of software development, Dr. Russo is uniquely qualified to bridge the large gaps between biological and computer sciences. Prior to founding Waycraft, Dr. Russo was an independent consultant in bioinformatics working with Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and Procter & Gamble Pharmaceuticals on bioinformatics projects.  He held the position of Chief Science Officer at Acero Technologies and was Director of Pathway Analysis at Incyte Genomics, a pioneer in gene sequence analysis.  Dr. Russo performed his postdoctoral work at Leland Hartwell’s lab at the University of Washington.  Dr. Russo received his Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from Princeton University, his M. Phil. in Biochemistry from Cambridge University and his B.S. in Biological Sciences from Stanford.

Daniel McGoldrick, Director of Professional Services
Dr. McGoldrick brings his extensive experience with computational bioscience methodologies to solve problems facing modern bioscientists. Dr. McGoldrick spent four years as a research associate with the leading edge team of biomedical informaticians at the University of Colorado Computational Bioscience Department. Prior to that he held research positions at Evolutionary Genomics, CSIRO Center for Research on Introduced Marine Pests (Australia), and the National Cooperative Research Consortium for Aquaculture (Australia). Dr. McGoldrick received his Ph.D. in Genetics at the University of California Davis and his B.Sc. in Biology from St. Mary's College of California.
